Goooooooogoooooooshing
Googoosh was this glamorific pop icon in Iran during the '70s before the Islamic Revolution in 1979. Afterwards, most pop-music was banned from the country and Googoosh herself went into a 20-year silence. The company I work for just signed Googoosh's label and got this great best of comp so i've been googooshing it up.
I'd first heard about her when a coworker's band, Sholi, released a split 7" with a Googoosh cover on one side and a Joanna Newsom cover on the other. Sholi have been recording their debut LP with Greg Saunier of Deerhoof producing and the rumors are that they've just signed to a pretty great label.
